PESHAWAR: Last week, Managing Director, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Ch. Abdul Ghafoor delivered a lecture on ‘Tourism in Pakistan’ to the participants of senior management course organized by the National Institute of Management Peshawar.
While speaking there,The MD said that in the past, no work was done for the promotion of tourism in Pakistan and tourism sector remained neglected. But the present government is ready to support PTDC in this valuable sector. In this context there is a strong need for cooperation between relevant federal and provincial government departments. Tourism is the only sector after Foreign Affairs that play an important role in setting up brotherhood between the nations and to coordinate the masses. This sector creates new innovation in culture and promotes brotherhood and morality. It is the duty of Civil servants to play their role in development of the country. They should also make efforts to promote tourism in the areas of their postings and help keeping peace, law and order situation so that tourism may flourish in the country.
Ch. Abdul Ghafoor told that Pakistan is the cradle of three religions i.e. Sikhism, Buddhism and Hinduism and numerous sacred places of these faiths lie in Pakistan. Promoting these and providing adequate facilities to the pilgrims can bring significant foreign exchange to the national economy.
