Thai food Festival Concludes | Thai Airways Gives Free Tickets

KARACHI: The Country Manager-Pakistan Thai Airways International, Mr. Kanaporn Apinonkul, whilst speaking to a group of journalists at the concluding ceremony of the two weeklong Thai food festival held at Beach Luxury Hotel, stated that there is a big potential for aviation business in Pakistan, mainly after CPEC.

He said, at present, Thai Airways operates daily flights for Bangkok from Karachi and Lahore, and four in a week from Islamabad. He added that passenger traffic from Pakistan to Thailand is increasing. Last year, 100,000 visas were issued by Thailand embassy in Islamabad for tourists and businessmen.

He informed that Thai Airways had 100 aircraft fleet operating on different routes in the world with focus on Middle East and Europe.  

He appreciated Mr. Azeem for oraganising Thai Food Festival and said more such festivals should be organized to promote social activities.

  1. Azeem Qureshi, General Manager Beach Luxury Hotel said that withincreasing rush of visitors from different countries for business andtourism purposes, the existing hotel capacity fell short. It has become inevitable for the hotel chains in Pakistan to go for immediate expansion.

“After China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, hotel industry here has witnessed 40 percent increase in occupancy. One would hardly find avacant room in four-star and five-star hotels in Pakistan,” he stated.

He said Avari International Hotels Group has taken lead by starting construction of nine more hotels with new name“Avari ExpressHotels” in different cities of Punjab.

Among these, two would be set up in Lahore, two in Multan (one isready), one each at Faizabad (junction of Rawalpindi and Islamabad), Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Koh-e-Mari and Sialkot.

He expressed his satisfaction over the big public response received by Thai food festival. Good number of food lovers continued pouring in since its first day.

 Honorary Trade Adviser to Thailand government, Mr. Arif Suleman said that Thai food is very popular in Pakistan. He appreciated Mr. Azeem and Mr. Kanaporn Apinonkul for organizing Thai food festival and said that tourism activities are picking up in Pakistan which is good for the economy of the country.

Lastly a lucky draw was held and The Country Manager-Pakistan, Thai Airways International, Mr. Kanaporn Apinonkul gave the lucky winners free tickets.
