ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has underscored the need to highlight the tourist magnets of Pakistan at international level while focusing on the provision of world-class facilities to the tourists.He was chairing the meeting of Task Force on tourism in Islamabad.
While Chairing the meeting, the Prime Minister said there are numerous opportunities of promoting tourism in the country.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan, Tourism Minister Punjab Teymour Bhatti, Tourism Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Atif Khan, besides others. The MD PTDC briefed the Prime Minister about progress made so far for promotion of tourism, highlighting the tourist places of Pakistan at international level and provision of facilities of international level to tourists.
Imran Khan said during establishment of tourist zones and their development, special care should be taken not to disturb the natural beauty and environment of the area.
The Prime Minister said there are numerous opportunities for promoting tourism in the country.
Earlier, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on efforts to highlight the tourism potential of the country at the international level and the progress being made in the provision of facilities to tourists.
The Prime Minister was also apprised of the performance of National Tourism Coordination Board and its various working groups. It was informed that a national tourism strategy has been constituted.
The meeting was also informed about the promotion of religious tourism, particularly the arrival of members of Sikh community on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and arrangements in this regard.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also emphasised the need for promotion of religious tourism in the country through highlighting the sacred places of different religions in Pakistan. The task force on tourism met with Prime Minister in the chair and held discussion on the arrangements made for the upcoming 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak. The Prime Minister said that there is huge potential of religious tourism in the country and desired its effective promotion.
