Punjab is the largest populated province of Pakistan. It is known for its ancient culture, heritage and religious diversity. The land of Punjab has been home to a number of religions and civilizations. Therefore, Punjab has a large scope in the Tourism Sector.
Government of the Punjab is striving to attract tourists in Punjab. TDCP’s projects like Patriata Chairlift and Cable Car System, Kallar Kahar Resort and Lal Sohanra National Park Resort, Bahawalpur have contributed a lot to the promotion of Tourism. In addition, the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management is imparting training in Tourism related disciplines for last three decades. Eco-Tourism Projects in Soon Valley, District Khushab and Tourist Resort at Nankana Sahib will also become operational during the current year.
I am pleased to learn that TDCP is celebrating World Tourism Day as Part of its International commitment with the United Nation World Tourism Organization. This year, celebrations have been organized under a theme titled “Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development”.
Since Tourism promotes soft image of a country at International level and puts it on the path to progress and development; therefore, Punjab Government is taking effective measures to strengthen the tourism industry. On the World Tourism Day, let us commit to promoting our local tourism as a means of improving the imaging of the country and core values of peace, harmony and tolerance that are our defining characteristics as a society.
I wish you all a very happy World Tourism Day,2017
