Khan Promises | His Govt. to Promote Tourism to Strengthen Economy

NATHIA GALI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan during his election campaign, on more than one occasion talked about tourism industry of Pakistan and promised that if voted to power, promotion of tourism to strengthen the economy of the country will be among the top priorities of his party.

As he is going to be our next Prime minister, the all stakeholders of travel and tourism industry are very optimistic that he will introduce tourism friendly policies besides relaxing our visa policy within 90 working days of his government. Being a neglected industry for years, tourism needs early respite.

Earlier addressing a gathering of party activists in connection with the election campaign in the mountain resort town of Nathia Gali, Khan said that in terms of scenic beauty, Pakistan’s tourist resorts are far better than Switzerland, the only need is to promote and highlight them.

He was of the view that tourism sector in the area needed to be promoted. Khan said that tourism would be promoted using educational sector.

Imran Khan also promised that after coming into power, his party will develop four new tourist resorts every year.

The PTI manifesto also talks about tourism sector in these worlds;

“PTI will turn around the tourism industry to improve international image and increase its direct contribution to GDP. In order to boost tourism we will; promote and position Pakistan as ‘Asia’s Best Kept Secret’, champion tourism in places including and beyond the northern areas, develop 20 new destinations in five years, implement a framework to incentivise private sector investments.”
