First-Ever Tourism Policy | A Landmark Step by KP Government

ISLAMABAD: The first-ever tourism policy by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a landmark step, which could promote tourism in the province.

President Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) Mr. Aftab Rana said on Thursday, 5 July that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the first province to introduce its tourism policy after devolution of powers under the 18th Amendment.

He said that KP Tourism Policy encourages public-private partnership and commercialization of government-run tourist facilities like rest-houses, promotion of tourist resorts and exploring new tourist destinations across the province.

“Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) had achieved target of ‘generating Rs50 billion’ revenue in tourism sector,” said an official of TCKP.

He said better accommodation facilities for tourists were included in the master plan of the provincial government.

He said that TCKP is playing a vital role in the promotion of Tourism industry, running several rest houses and motels throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing comprehensive tourist facilities. He further said that the team of its professionals is endeavoring to facilitate the tourists through its TICs (Tourist Information Centers) where one can have all kind of information/tour bookings at the same window. He said that efforts underway are to implement the first ever tourism policy in the province.
