The exhibition displayed the covers of some of the most famous comic strip books of Belgium. With more than 700 comic strip authors, Belgium has more comic strip artists per square kilometre than any other country in the world. It is here that the comic strip has grown from a popular medium into an art in its own right. Nowhere else are comics so strongly rooted in reality and in people’s imagination.
The exhibition was produced by the Comics Art Museum of Brussels and showcases more than 50 of Belgium’s best-known comic strip heroes: from Tintin, Spirou, Bob and Bobette to the Smurfs, Lucky Luke and many, many others.
The comic book exhibition is one of the many events that are organised in the framework of the Francophonie Week, the annual event which celebrates the French Language in Pakistan.
With only a selective section of the city’s elite invited, the guest list was highly exclusive. They were served fresh and delicious Belgian waffles and other delectable Belgian refreshments making the event nothing less than extravagant.
