KARACHI: flydubai with great joy and enthusiasm is celebrating its 10-year anniversary of operating in Pakistan. It was early morning of June 21, 2010 When flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, launched its 20th destination and landed at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
The people of Pakistan have entrusted them with immense support and trust over the years and hopefully flydubai will continue to exceed the expectations and provide excellent services to Pakistan as they have been doing so in the past.
The airline started in 2009 with the aim to take the people to more places, more often. Prior to coronavirus flydubai was flying to more than 90 destinations and were constantly adding new cities to their network as they continued to grow. Over 70 million passengers have chosen to flydubai, making them the second largest carrier, by passenger numbers, operating out of Dubai International.
Since 2008 they have placed 3 aircraft orders and at the 2017 edition of the Dubai Airshow, they placed the largest order for a single-aisle aircraft in the region. Over the next decade, they are planning to grow their fleet by up to 236 Boeing 737 aircrafts.

Before Covid-19 the airline employed more than 4,000 colleagues from 128 countries and the diversity of their team is a true reflection of the cosmopolitan city of Dubai. flydubai continues to attract some of the finest talent in the industry whether on the ground, in the air or behind the scenes, their people continue to shape their success story.
The 2019 was a good year for flydubai in a way that in spite of grounding of the Boeing 737 Max, the airline reported a profit of 198.2 million dirhams for the period ending December 31 2019. The airline reported a total annual revenue of 6 billion dirhams for the same period.
With a growing demand and an ever-expanding network due to their amazing services and unparalleled prices, flydubai will continue in post coronavirus time to add number of new destinations to its network. Before Covid-19, flydubai opened up routes across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, the GCC, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia, the aim was not only continuing to expand their network, but to make the journey as efficient as possible, with more regular flights, more direct routes and more comfortable inflight options.
