We wrote earlier also that whenever several forces bear upon any issue with their respective dynamics, the issue does become compounded, but the one force among them that works centrifugally with competence, honesty, and sincerity, wins ultimately for the issue at hand. We add sincerity here because we believe in Allah’s dispensations bearing upon human effort and that He takes into account not only His creatures’ efforts but also their sincerity.
We are looking here at the present position of our national Flag carrier and its future.
With just a few good administrative changes at the highest level were made and many positive and Good news are coming out of PIA as a steady stream these days. The most positive news is that PIA has managed to earn the trust of the international consortium of banks and is eyeing to take a loan up to $300 million without government’s sovereign guarantee. It can be rated a good achievement for PIA as its sole dependence since the last decade was on lines of credit and sovereign guarantees extended by the Government of Pakistan.
Last Hajj operation, repairing of two grounded planes and making them operational, expansion in the fleet, opening of new profitable sectors, closing of loss-making sectors, increasing of Airline Domestic and International market share, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, and the flag carrier of Pakistan, Re-launching of codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways to offer greater access to both airlines’ trunk routes between the UAE and Pakistan, and on Etihad services across its global network, focusing to create a corporate culture in the Airline and develop working mentality among the staff are major positive things which we have been asking time and again in our editorials. With the improvement in the CRC system and with better cabin crew roster system, the airline service is better than before.
Despite many difficulties, the core management team at PIA, led by its CEO is achieving one plus point after another and, its schedule credibility is rising and its monthly money loss decreased considerably. Obviously, the core management, particularly the marketing department including Brand management are laboring with professional competence, dedication, and sincerity, racing against the hanging sword of severe criticism. We feel as if PIA is heading once again towards its lost glory. Of course; Professional competence, dedication, and sincerity require proper tools and equipment for their users to succeed; tools should be bought and added with care and calculation.
