COLOMBO: Sri Lanka will host the prestigious 71st Association Internationale des Étudiants En Sciences Économiques et Commerciales (AIESEC) an International Congress aimed at celebrating youth leadership, cultural diversity and global togetherness in July this year.
The Congress will be held from July 6 to 14 under the strategic guidance of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau with the participation of over 800 young leaders from more than 120 countries.
The conference will comprise a series of vibrant events such as the Opening Ceremony, Global Village, YouthSpeak Forum, World’s Largest Lesson and Sri Lankan Night.
AIESEC is one of the world’s largest youth-run organizations. It is independent, non-profitable, non-political with the vision of achieving peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential. It provides youth a platform to develop their leadership potential to impact the world by facilitating cross-cultural exchanges for volunteer opportunities and internships abroad from over 120 countries worldwide.
As an organization, it has impacted over 5000 partner organizations and is represented in over 2,400 universities with more than 90,000 active members and over 1,000,000 alumni worldwide. “ As a leading youth movement in the country, AIESEC in Sri Lanka believes that it is the responsibility of youth to engage actively in the development of the nation,” said Isuru Premathilake, current president of AIESEC in Sri Lanka.
